WBP BIKES (960 x 960).mp4

Witness the Adrenaline Rush as Mountain Bike Racer charges down a steep decent at Full speed, which forced her a little to high on the entranced to a curve and….. causing her to lose control.
Thankfully she walked away unscathed….. except for a bruised ego.
This is but one example Highlighting why on-site Medical Wisconsin Bike Patrols are essential for quick response in remote racing terrains! It Could have been a Lot worse!!

Quickly and Safely

Patrollers Thinking / Acting and Working ‘Outside the Box’ for this injured Racer who Crashed, one mile into a dense single-track wooded area, and obtained a Fractured and Dislocated Hip with loss of Blood Flow and Feeling to his leg and foot! His condition worsened……

Decision made to use a QuickLitter to extract him out as quickly as possible and off for Hospital treatment.

After surgery, he was back to Racing the following year!

Caring for a NICA Youth Racer with a Concussion in our Medical Treatment Tent

To help with her recovery, the WB Patrol invited PRO Mountain Bike Racer Emily Batty (the racers idol), to come into our Med Tent to talk with her, which helped her to regain her focus, from her ‘Foggy Phase’!

Again, Patrollers thinking ‘outside the box’ to Help the patient any which way they can.

Grateful Feedback

Unexpectantly, Mom and Son came back a week later to Thank Patroller Paul for his efforts with her son’s hand injury. We do constantly get a Lot of “Thank YouZ”. That Really gives us a GREAT Feeling for what we do!

Even the smallest injuries can cause the Biggest concerns

We had many concerned spectators alerting us to this racer, pleading to us to check on her – WHILE she was Racing! And we did. YES, she was covered in blood, face and jersey. We allowed her to continue with promise to come to Med Tent after race for check-up. This picture was as she came into Med Tent.

Once cleaned up, there was a Very Tiny nick on the bridge of her nose that caused All the Blood!

Injured Athlete Interested in Joining TEAM

While Treating this athlete (who had Medical experience) asked about Joining our TEAM. Application is on her lap.

This is a common occurrence, Athlete PATIENTS considering joining us….. and we Have had a few.

Family Rallies Around Injured Racer

This Injured Racer was Visited in our Med Trailer, by his wife, kids and Grand Parents who were All WORRIED about ‘Dad’!

They were Allowed into our Medical Trailer during treatment to Alleviate their concerns. We CARE about the racers Family too!

Bike Patrollers CARE

This NICA Youth, while racing, had gotten so Cold, on a wet/cold race day, that he could not ride his bike any longer and wanted ‘extraction’.

Our Patroller, who was riding the course, found him, and Radio’d for RSQ1 Unit for extraction; and then stayed with the youth, giving him support and encouragement, along with wrapping him in a warming Rescue Blanket until the Rescue Unit arrived for extraction from the trails.

Most Common Race Injury to treat

Head, Sholders, Knees and Toes……

Just another injury to treat… OK, No head injury, nor toes, BUT he had a shoulder, arm and KNEE to clean up, bandage and send on his way.

Trust but Verify

A concerned father looks over his son, who is being taken care of by WBP.

This is a big reason for parents being thankful and also less worried.

Heat Stroke Victim

This one was a Very Scary situation: This Racer had Raced HARD, pushing herself to the limits, and beyond! When she crossed the Finish Line, she rode 30 feet off the Race Course, stepped off her bike and collapsed, going unconscious! Medical TEAM at Med Trailer (stationed at Finish Line) was notified of racer down!! We Responded Immediately. Finding her un-Responsive, they began procedure to revive Heat Stroke Victim. Much Time went by and the Medical Team Grew around here to Help! Finally, collectively they got positive results! Becoming conscious, she was transported to the Medical Trailer where she got Additional Care, resulting in her Walking out with her parents! GREAT JOB TEAM WBP!!!

Sag Wagon Check-in

A Vehicle Roving Patroller stopped at ‘Sag Wagon’ to assure there was No injury, as the Road Rider at RAW Ride was getting his bike repaired.

A Vehicle Roving Patroller stops during a Road Ride Event, when seeing a Stranded Road Rider with a bike issue, to assist with simple Bike Repair, or take them to a ‘Sag Wagon’ for a more major repair.
